Common Questions
What is a Vantage score?
It used to be that each bureau called credit scores by a different name:
- Equifax = Beacon
- TransUnsion = Empirica
- Experian = Fair Issac
However, in 2006 the three bureaus joined forces to develop a uniform scoring model called VantageScore. The numerical range and grading is different than traditional credit scores. Your Vantage Score will still vary between each bureau since the information they use to compose the score is different. Lenders and creditors may have a preference as to which bureau they like to use. Or they may pull reports from all three and take the median score. Whatever the method, the consumer still needs to stay on top of all three reports.
